Summary
Indiana Health Coverage Programs (IHCP) has added coverage for CTA scans of blood vessels in the head and neck with contrast (CPT 70471), effective immediately and retroactive to July 1, 2026. This change applies to both managed care and fee-for-service medical benefits.
Action Required
Immediately: (1) Billing team must update billing system and encounter forms to recognize CPT 70471 as a covered procedure for IHCP beneficiaries. (2) Verify that CPT 70471 is included in the system's list of covered codes for both fee-for-service and managed care claims. (3) For fee-for-service claims: begin billing CPT 70471 with IHCP as primary payer; monitor the Professional Fee Schedule and Outpatient Fee Schedule updates at in.gov/medicaid/providers for reimbursement rates. (4) For managed care claims: direct providers to contact individual MCOs for specific billing and reimbursement requirements, as each MCO establishes its own policies. (5) Process any retroactive claims with DOS between July 1, 2026 and the publication date (July 14, 2026).
