Summary

Security Health Plan released its May 2017 Provider News containing three main items: (1) announcement of a new provider portal launching June 1, 2017 with enhanced prior authorization and eligibility verification features; (2) recognition of high-performing skilled nursing facilities; and (3) educational coding guidance on cerebrovascular accidents (CVA) for accurate ICD-10 CM coding. The provider portal transition requires practices to designate organization administrators and complete access requests before the June 1 launch.

Action Required

Action needed
By June 1, 2017: (1) Practice administrators must work with organization leadership to select and designate an organization administrator for the new provider portal. (2) Organization administrators must complete the Provider Access Request application to gain access to the new portal. (3) All practice users should review training videos at www.securityhealth.org/training before June 1, 2017 to become familiar with the new portal's enhanced features for prior authorization submission, member eligibility verification, and claims tracking. (4) Billing and administrative staff should update internal workflows to use the new prior authorization attachment feature and authorization tracking alerts. Failure to complete portal access setup before June 1 will prevent submission of prior authorizations and eligibility verification through the portal.
