Summary
The North Carolina DHHS Hearing Office fax number has changed to 984-687-9584, and providers are now required to include a copy of the adverse determination letter when submitting appeal requests. These changes apply to NC Medicaid Direct and NC Medicaid Managed Care.
Action Required
Immediately: (1) Billing team and providers must update all documentation, templates, and system records to use the new fax number 984-687-9584 for all NCDHHS Hearing Office submissions. (2) When submitting any appeal requests for adverse determinations, attach a copy of the adverse determination letter—this is now mandatory. (3) Update internal appeal procedures and staff training materials to reflect both requirements. (4) Verify that adverse determination letters generated through NCTracks reflect these changes. Failure to include the required documentation copy will delay or result in rejection of appeals. Contact NCTracks Call Center at 800-688-6696 or Provider Ombudsman at 866-304-7062 with questions.
