Summary
This is a correction bulletin to MMP 26-07 that updates the MichiCANS Decision Support Model (DSM) for Children's Home and Community-Based Services Waiver (CWP) eligibility criteria. Changes include removing duplicative communication language from age-specific criteria, correcting omitted items in the 6+ age group, and retitling Criterion F to 'Developmental Needs/Autism Spectrum Profile'. These are documentation and eligibility assessment changes, not billing code changes.
Action Required
By May 16, 2026: Clinical and eligibility teams must update MichiCANS DSM assessment forms and decision support tools to reflect the corrections in MMP 26-13. Specifically: (1) Remove 'Communication (receptive/expressive)' references from 0-5 Criterion C and 6+ Criterion D to eliminate duplication; (2) Add the bolded omitted items to 6+ Criterion C in assessment documentation; (3) Update all DSM domain titles and materials to reflect Criterion F as 'Developmental Needs/Autism Spectrum Profile' instead of the prior title. Update any internal training materials and provider guidance documents. Ensure all staff conducting CWP eligibility assessments use the corrected DSM. Retain MMP 26-13 in policy files until incorporated into the MDHHS Medicaid Provider Manual. Contact ProviderSupport@michigan.gov with questions.
