Summary
Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield is notifying Georgia providers that updated pharmacy information is now available on their provider website, effective July 1, 2026. The policy directs providers to review quarterly drug lists, copay/coinsurance requirements, prior authorization needs, step therapy rules, and generic substitution procedures. Commercial and exchange drug lists are updated quarterly on the first of January, April, July, and October.
Action Required
By July 1, 2026: Billing and clinical teams must access https://anthem.com/provider and https://www.anthem.com/pharmacy-information to review the updated pharmacy formulary and drug lists. Establish a quarterly review process (every January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1) to check for changes to: copay/coinsurance amounts by drug class, prior authorization requirements, step therapy protocols, therapeutic interchange policies, and generic substitution procedures. Update internal pharmacy reference materials and provider order entry systems accordingly. For prior authorization submissions, direct staff to carelonrx.com/solutions/providers. For practices without internet access, contact Anthem Provider Services via member ID card. Failure to stay current on formulary changes may result in claim denials, billing delays, and member access issues.
