Summary
UnitedHealthcare has updated its national Gold Card code list effective May 1, 2026. Action Required
By June 30, 2026: Billing team must obtain the updated national Gold Card code list from the UnitedHealthcare Provider Portal (accessible via chat 24/7 at uhcprovider.com) and compare it against the previous list to identify which codes no longer require prior authorization. Update billing software, claim submission rules, and prior authorization workflows to remove prior auth requirements for deleted codes. Notify all providers and clinical staff of codes that now bypass prior authorization to prevent unnecessary authorization requests. Verify that encounter forms and EMR templates reflect the updated requirements. Failure to update systems may result in delayed claim processing or unnecessary prior authorizations that impact cash flow.
