[Virginia] Reminder: provider data attestation
Anthem BCBS·VA·Provider Bulletin
We identified it
Jul 1, 2026
Summary
Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield (Virginia) requires all contracted providers to verify and attest to their demographic data every 90 days using the Provider Data Management (PDM) feature in Availity Essentials. Failure to complete attestation within 90 days will result in removal from the online provider directory and classification as non-compliant, which impacts member access and claims processing.
Action Required
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ongoing (every 90 days): All providers and administrative staff with Availity Essentials access must attest to demographic data using PDM at https://Availity.com > My Providers > Provider Data Management.
- Action steps: (1) Log into Availity Essentials; (2) Navigate to My Providers > Provider Data Management; (3) Select action menu next to business name; (4) Select Verify Directory Listing; (5) Review all demographic data for accuracy; (6) Select Submit Verified Profile to complete attestation.
- Alternative method: Organizations may use the Roster Upload feature to submit multiple provider updates via spreadsheet (satisfies 90-day requirement equally).
- Responsibility: Providers, office administrators, and designated staff with PDM access must monitor attestation due dates via automated Availity email notifications and Notification Center alerts.
- Consequence of non-compliance: Providers classified as non-compliant will be removed from the online provider directory, preventing members from locating them via Find Care, negatively impacting patient access and claims processing efficiency. This affects reimbursement timeliness.
- For Behavioral Health providers assigned to Carelon Behavioral Health: Follow Carelon's attestation process instead; CAQH members attest through CAQH website.
- For non-registered providers: Register at https://Availity.com and select 'New to Availity? Get Started' (no cost). Contact Availity Client Services at 800-AVAILITY (282-4548) for registration support.
- For training: Access on-demand classes and recorded webinars via Availity Essentials Learning Hub or Quick Start Guide in PDM application.
