Summary
BCBSRI requires practices to verify and maintain accurate demographic information in their Find a Doctor directory within 60 days of any changes. This is a CMS requirement and contractual obligation. Practices must ensure two key data points are current: whether the location is where patients can schedule appointments and whether the provider is accepting new patients.
Action Required
By August 30, 2026 (60-day deadline): Provider Relations and Front Desk staff must complete a full audit of practice demographic data in BCBSRI systems. Verify (1) accurate practice location(s) where patients can make appointments, and (2) current new patient acceptance status. Complete the BCBSRI Practitioner Change Form for ANY demographic changes and submit to BCBSRI. Establish a process to respond to quarterly validation outreach via fax or email (contact ProviderDirectory@bcbsri.org if email preference needed). Failure to maintain accurate directory information may result in patient access issues, scheduling problems, and potential contract compliance violations.
