Summary
Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Medicaid (Ohio) corrected a system error that incorrectly directed providers to submit external appeals to the Wisconsin Medicaid address for claims processed between May 15–June 10, 2026. Providers must now use the correct Ohio-specific appeal submission methods (online via Availity, fax, email, or phone) for all Ohio Medicaid claims.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must verify that all appeal submissions for Ohio Medicaid claims use the correct state-specific contact information: Online (https://Availity.com), Fax (866-587-3316), Email (ohiomga@anthem.com), or Phone (844-912-1226, Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.–8 p.m. ET). Do NOT submit Ohio Medicaid appeals to Wisconsin Medicaid addresses. Review any appeals submitted between May 15–June 10, 2026 to identify claims that may have been incorrectly routed to Wisconsin; resubmit those appeals using correct Ohio contact information if they were misdirected. Update internal appeal process documentation and staff training materials to reflect correct Ohio appeal procedures. This prevents claim appeals from being lost or delayed due to misdirection to the wrong state.
