Summary
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network will distribute no-cost, in-home test kits (eGFR, uACR, and/or A1c tests) to select Medicare Advantage members with diabetes in early July 2026 to improve compliance with the KED (Kidney Health Evaluation for Patients with Diabetes) HEDIS measure. Billing teams should be aware that test results will be communicated to members via mail, phone, and certified letter (if abnormal), and to providers via Direct Trust messaging or fax, requiring coordination with primary care providers for result discussion.
Action Required
By July 1, 2026: Billing and clinical teams should coordinate with primary care providers to prepare for receipt of in-home test results from LetsGetChecked. No billing code changes are required as these are no-cost preventive tests distributed directly to members. Ensure providers monitor Direct Trust electronic medical record messaging and fax channels for test result notifications. Providers should be prepared to discuss both normal and abnormal results with affected Medicare Advantage members. This is an informational policy update requiring operational awareness rather than billing system changes.
