Summary
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network have simplified first-time access to the WellSky provider portal through Availity Essentials. Providers no longer need to obtain an AKA ID or complete a manual access request form; they can now access the portal directly by clicking the WellSky Authorization Portal tile in the Applications tab. This streamlines the onboarding process for prior authorization submissions.

Immediately: Inform all providers and billing staff accessing the WellSky provider portal through Availity Essentials that the streamlined access process is now active. Staff should follow the new procedure: click the WellSky Authorization Portal tile in the Applications tab within the BCBSM/BCN payer space, select an organization and provider, and click Submit—no AKA ID or manual access request form is required. Note that prior authorization requests should continue to be submitted through WellSky CarePort for fastest response. No changes to billing workflows, software, or claim submission processes are needed. This is informational and operational only.
