Summary
MHD implemented a system change on June 20, 2026, to automatically process crossover claims for Medicare Advantage (Part C) participants who receive hospice care during a month. Previously, these claims were denied and required manual intervention via fax or phone. Providers no longer need to contact the Medicare unit for assistance—claims will now process automatically.
Action Required
By June 30, 2026: Billing team should stop submitting manual requests or escalations to the Medicare unit (573-751-9312) for crossover claims involving hospice participants in Part C plans. Update internal procedures to reflect that these claims now process automatically. Monitor claims for proper adjudication over the next billing cycle. If claims continue to deny or process incorrectly, contact the Medicare unit at 573-751-9312 for investigation. No system changes required in billing software unless your vendor indicates otherwise.
