Summary
American Specialty Health (ASH) will now handle utilization management, prior authorization, and claims payment for chiropractic, acupuncture, naturopathic, and therapeutic massage services. Claims must be submitted to ASH instead of Providence Health Plan, and providers are responsible for obtaining medical necessity approval before delivering services to in-network members.
Action Required
REQUIREMENTS:
- By August 15, 2025: Billing team and providers must register with ASHLink.com portal and obtain ASH contact information (1-888-511-2743) for all alternative care providers in network.
- By September 1, 2025 (OR Commercial) and December 15, 2025 (WA Commercial and Medicare): Update billing workflows to route all chiropractic, acupuncture, naturopathic, and therapeutic massage claims to ASH instead of Providence Health Plan. Update billing system with ASH claims submission address and requirements.
- Immediately: Train front desk and clinical staff that providers MUST obtain prior authorization from ASH before delivering alternative care services to in-network members. For out-of-network members, document that members are responsible for obtaining authorization.
- Before effective date: Modify encounter forms and EMR templates to require providers to confirm medical necessity documentation is complete before submitting claims to ASH.
- Ongoing: Monitor for any claims rejected by Providence Health Plan and forward to ASH per new procedure. Track authorization denials and communicate outcomes to providers.
CONSEQUENCES: Claims submitted to Providence Health Plan after the effective date will be forwarded to ASH, causing payment delays. Claims without ASH prior authorization will be denied. Out-of-network members without proper authorization documentation will be held responsible for costs.
