Summary
Medical Mutual is implementing a new Respiratory Therapy Services reimbursement policy (RP-202606) effective August 1, 2026, and revising the Incident to Billing policy (RP-202303) to clarify provider eligibility. Additionally, a new medical policy covers Intraosseous Ablation of the Basivertebral Nerve (202605), which removes Intracept coverage from the existing Radiofrequency Treatment for Pain policy. New privacy procedures also prohibit verbal/phone disclosure of Member IDs and Group Numbers.
Action Required
By July 16, 2026: Billing team must review updated Incident to Billing policy (RP-202303) on Medmutual.com/Provider to understand revised provider eligibility criteria and update billing workflows accordingly. By August 1, 2026: Implement new Respiratory Therapy Services reimbursement policy (RP-202606) in billing system, including facility billing limits and claims editing rules. Update billing software to reflect removal of Intracept codes from Radiofrequency Treatment for Pain policy (201537) and ensure these codes now route under new basivertebral nerve ablation coverage (202605). Billing team must immediately stop providing Member IDs or Group Numbers via phone, chat, or email; direct member requests to secure member portal or arrange mailed ID cards; instruct providers to use Availity portal or contact members directly. Update front desk and customer service scripts to reflect new ID verification procedures.
