Summary
Humana revised its Medicare Advantage step therapy policy for Adlarity (donepezil transdermal patch) for Alzheimer's disease treatment. Patients must now try or be unable to use both oral donepezil tablets and rivastigmine transdermal patch before Adlarity will be covered.

Immediately: When prescribing Adlarity for Medicare Advantage patients, ensure documentation shows patient has tried or cannot use both donepezil tablets and rivastigmine transdermal patch. Update prior authorization requests to include this step therapy requirement. Claims may be denied without proper documentation of failed prior therapies.
