AHCCCS (Arizona Medicaid) is transitioning from ICD-9 to ICD-10 diagnosis codes effective October 1, 2015. All CMS 1500 and UB-04 claims for services on or after 10/1/2015 must use valid ICD-10 codes, and the online portal will not accept ICD-10 entries until that date.
Action Required
By October 1, 2015: Billing team must update all CMS 1500 and UB-04 claims to use ICD-10 diagnosis codes instead of ICD-9 for all services on or after 10/1/2015. Update billing software and encounter forms. For prior authorizations needed before 10/1/2015 for early October services, submit via fax line instead of online portal. Claims with ICD-9 codes after the effective date will be rejected.
