Summary
AHCCCS Fee For Service implemented a new NEMT authorization Event type 'BT' specifically for behavioral health transports effective June 15, 2017. Providers must now use the BT event type when submitting NEMT requests with behavioral health diagnosis codes for TRBHA enrolled members, while continuing to use OT, OR, or RR event types for medical transports.
Action Required
Immediately: Transportation coordinators must update NEMT authorization request procedures to use Event type 'BT' for all behavioral health transports for TRBHA enrolled members. Continue using Event types OT, OR, or RR for AIHP members' medical transports. Update staff training on the online authorization system at https://azweb.statemedicaid.us/ and ensure behavioral health diagnosis codes are included with BT event type requests.
