Summary
Humana Medicare Advantage now requires prior authorization for Exxua (gepirone), a new antidepressant medication. Members must have failed or been intolerant to two other antidepressants and cannot have certain cardiac or liver conditions.
Action Required
Immediately: Providers prescribing Exxua (gepirone) for Medicare Advantage patients must obtain prior authorization through Humana. Verify patient has tried/failed two other antidepressants and check for exclusion criteria (prolonged QTc >450 msec, congenital long QT syndrome, severe hepatic impairment).
