Summary
AHCCCS providers must now submit prior authorization requests through the online portal instead of fax as of August 1, 2018. The system will no longer fax determinations to providers, and all authorization status checks must be done online.
Action Required
Immediately: All billing staff must transition from fax-based prior authorization submissions to the AHCCCS Online Provider Portal. Register for portal access at https://azweb.statemedicaid.us/Account/Register.aspx if not already done. Upload all clinical documents as single files, include facility face sheets and history/physical documents for hospital admissions. Stop expecting fax determinations - check authorization status only through the online portal. Exception: Tribal ALTCS acute services still require fax submission but status must be checked online.
