Action Required
Before January 1, 2026: Billing and clinical teams must implement prior authorization requirements for all Briviact (brivaracetam) prescriptions for Humana Medicare Advantage patients. Update system to verify patients have failed both levetiracetam AND at least one other anti-seizure medication (lamotrigine, carbamazepine, zonisamide, divalproex, gabapentin, or topiramate) before prescribing. Provider documentation must include diagnosis of partial-onset seizures and medication failure history. Claims will be denied without proper prior authorization.
