Summary
AHCCCS (Arizona Medicaid) has updated transportation billing procedures effective October 1, 2021, allowing certain providers to bill for public transportation passes (bus passes) using code A0110, and introduced the Emergency Triage, Treat and Transport (ET3) program for ambulance providers. The update also extends the 'four walls' grace period for IHS and Tribal facilities to provide services outside their facilities.
Action Required
By October 1, 2021: Eligible provider types (02, 05, 13, 14, 25, 27, 29, 41, 77, 81, 85, 86, 87, A3, A4, A6, B7, BC, C2, and C5) with Category of Service 31 must update billing procedures to use code A0110 for public transportation passes up to 30 days duration. Billing team must ensure claims include copy of transportation pass, itemized receipt, and completed Public Transportation Pass form with all required signatures and documentation. Emergency transportation providers (Type 06) must register for ET3 program if providing non-emergent response services.
