Summary
Nevada Medicaid will now deny claims from Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (MFT) and Clinical Professional Counselors (CPC) serving Medicare recipients with error code 2502, as Medicare is now primary coverage for dual eligible recipients. Previously paid claims will be reprocessed and recouped.
Action Required
Immediately: Nevada MFT and CPC providers must enroll in Medicare to continue serving dual eligible recipients. Stop billing Nevada Medicaid as primary for these services - bill Medicare first. Review all claims paid since January 1, 2024 as Nevada Medicaid will reprocess and recoup incorrectly paid claims. For HCPCS S9480 (intensive outpatient psychiatric services), follow Web Announcement 3170 billing instructions when Medicare is primary.
