Summary

Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must update Nevada Medicaid inpatient claims to include appropriate emergency modifiers (25, 59, XE, XP, XS, XU, 24, 58, FT, or X4) when multiple physicians from the same group treat the same patient on the same day for emergency situations. Review all inpatient claims from February 20, 2024 forward as these will be automatically reprocessed and may result in recoupments. Monitor future remittance advice for reprocessing results and be prepared to appeal denied claims if warranted.
