Summary
Nevada Medicaid is suspending the implementation of shadow billing for dental encounters at FQHCs, while proceeding with shadow billing for medical and behavioral health encounters starting January 1, 2026. Dental encounters will eventually transition to using ADA forms with code D2999 instead of encounter code 41899.
Action Required
By January 1, 2026: FQHCs in Nevada must implement shadow billing for medical and behavioral health encounters only. Register for training sessions scheduled for November, December, and January through Nevada Medicaid LMS. Update systems and clearinghouse agreements as needed. For dental encounters, continue current billing practices until future announcement - do not implement shadow billing for dental at this time.
