Nevada Medicaid has clarified that behavioral health providers should only select 'Not Applicable' for Assessment Type in prior authorization requests when assessment scores are truly not applicable for the requested services. Selecting the wrong assessment option will result in technical denials of prior authorization requests.
Action Required
Immediately: Behavioral health staff must review current prior authorization submission process in Provider Web Portal. Only select 'Not Applicable' for Assessment Type field when assessment information scores are genuinely not applicable for the services being requested. Train staff on proper Assessment Type selection to avoid technical denials of PA requests.
