Summary
Effective February 1, 2024, Kansas Brain Injury Waiver providers must stop using codes 97129 and 97130 for Cognitive Therapy and instead use either 97535 or 97537, both reimbursed at $18.99. This change only affects providers billing Kansas Medicaid for Brain Injury Waiver services.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must update system to replace codes 97129 and 97130 with codes 97535 or 97537 for all Kansas Brain Injury Waiver Cognitive Therapy services. Update encounter forms and notify providers. Review and resubmit any denied claims from February 1, 2024 onward using the new codes.
