Summary
Kansas Medicaid updated billing requirements for Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHC) effective December 1, 2023. Key changes include removing Provider Specialty 176 from the CCBHC payment system, updating SBIRT service requirements with new training mandates, and defining specific place of service codes for HCPCS H0040.
Action Required
Effective December 1, 2023: Behavioral health providers must update billing systems to ensure PS 176 (Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation) claims use correct CCBHC Provider Type and Provider Specialty codes. Providers billing SBIRT services (CPT 99408, 99409) must complete KDADS-approved training and maintain licensing requirements. Update system to restrict HCPCS H0040 to approved place of service codes only (02, 04, 10, 11, 12, 27, 99). Monitor KanCare MCO implementation dates as they may vary from state effective date.
