Effective date

We identified it

Summary
Kansas Medicaid now allows legally married couples who are both participants in HCBS Intellectual and Developmental Disability waiver services to receive residential services in their shared home. This expands coverage for married couples with I/DD who live together.
Action Required
Billing teams serving I/DD waiver participants should update eligibility verification processes to allow both spouses to receive residential services at the same address when both are enrolled in HCBS I/DD waiver services. Review Section 8400, page 8-20 of the updated HCBS IDD Fee-for-Service Provider Manual for specific billing guidance. Monitor KanCare MCO implementation timelines as they may vary from the April 1st effective date.
