Summary
Kansas Medicaid (KMAP) now requires ordering or referring NPIs on claims to have specific enrollment types: Individual (I), Individual within a Group (IG), or Ordering, Referring, Prescribing (ORP). Claims with other enrollment types will be denied, except for hospice services.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must verify all ordering and referring provider NPIs in your system have enrollment type I, IG, or ORP for Kansas Medicaid claims. Update provider database to flag incorrect enrollment types. Contact providers with non-compliant NPIs to update their enrollment status. Claims with non-compliant ordering/referring NPIs will be denied.
