Summary
Kansas Medicaid (KMAP) has updated the required Place of Service (POS) codes for use in AuthentiCare effective July 24, 2024. Billing teams must now use only the 11 specified POS codes when submitting visit information, which will populate into claims.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must update billing system and staff training to use only the 11 approved Place of Service codes (02, 03, 04, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 18, 27, 53, 99) when submitting visits in AuthentiCare. Update encounter forms and EMR templates to reflect these restricted POS options. Train providers and staff to select the POS code where care actually takes place. Monitor KanCare MCO implementation dates as they may vary from the July 24, 2024 effective date.
