Summary
Kansas Medicaid (KMAP) created a new benefit plan called Medically Needy Long-Term Care (MNLTC) for higher-income LTC members with income over 300% of SSI. These members will now have patient liability for Share of Cost instead of spenddown requirements.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must verify Kansas Medicaid member benefit plans during eligibility verification to distinguish between traditional Medically Needy (MN) members with spenddown and new MNLTC members with patient liability. Update billing procedures to collect patient liability amounts from MNLTC members instead of managing spenddown. Monitor KanCare MCO implementation status on KMAP Bulletins page as timing may vary by plan.
