Summary

Kansas KanCare 3.0 begins January 1, 2025 with new MCOs (Healthy Blue, Sunflower, United Healthcare) replacing previous plans. All existing prior authorizations from previous MCOs will be honored for up to 90 days, with providers paid at minimum 100% of Medicaid fee schedule during continuity of care period.

Immediately: Billing team must verify patient eligibility with new Kansas MCOs (Healthy Blue, Sunflower Health Plan, United Healthcare Community Plan) for all Medicaid patients. Update patient insurance information in billing system. Continue billing existing authorizations normally - they remain valid for up to 90 days. For HCBS services, prepare to submit new prior authorization requests to appropriate new MCO before existing authorizations expire or 90-day limit is reached.
