Summary
Kansas Medicaid (KMAP) is implementing updated National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) and Medically Unlikely Edits (MUE) rules for third quarter 2025. These changes will affect code bundling rules and edit parameters that determine which procedure codes can be billed together and maximum units allowed per service date.
Action Required
By July 1, 2025: Billing team must review and download the updated NCCI and MUE files from the Kansas Medicaid NCCI webpage to update billing software edit rules. Monitor the KanCare Open Claims Resolution Log for MCO implementation dates as each managed care organization may implement changes on different dates. Update billing system edits to prevent incorrect code combinations and unit submissions that will result in claim denials.
