Effective July 1, 2025, Kansas Medicaid (KMAP) will increase reimbursement rates for Vagus Nerve Stimulation procedures and require modifier U3 for proper billing. CPT 61885 will reimburse at $30,000 and CPT 64568 at $40,000 when billed with modifier U3.

Before July 1, 2025: Billing team must update system to automatically append modifier U3 to CPT codes 61885 and 64568 for all Vagus Nerve Stimulation procedures billed to Kansas Medicaid. Update fee schedules with new rates: 61885-U3 at $30,000 and 64568-U3 at $40,000. Train staff to verify modifier inclusion as claims may be denied or underpaid without proper modifier usage.
