Summary
Kansas Medicaid (KMAP) has updated policy requirements for Speech Generating Devices and Augmentative Communication Devices effective July 1, 2025. The changes require use of a standardized evaluation form, mandate device trials across three technology categories, and strengthen EPSDT guidelines for pediatric members.
Action Required
Before July 1, 2025: Billing team must obtain the new standardized Augmentative and Alternative Communication Device Evaluation Form from the KMAP website. Providers must complete device trials across at least three categories (low, mid, high technology) with documentation justifying final recommendations. Update prior authorization workflows to include new evaluation form requirements and EPSDT considerations for KBH members. Claims without proper documentation will be denied.
