Summary
Starting October 1, 2025, Kansas Medicaid will require a physician's order for all billable therapy services in Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) programs before claims can be submitted. Backdating of physician orders will not be permitted, meaning orders must be obtained prospectively.
Action Required
Before October 1, 2025: Providers must establish workflow to obtain physician's orders for all ECI therapy services before providing care. Update EMR templates to capture physician orders. Train billing team that claims cannot be submitted without valid physician orders and backdating is prohibited. Claims submitted without proper physician orders will be denied.
