Due to federal government shutdown, Kansas WIC is pausing formula shipments to clinics effective October 10, 2025. Providers should prescribe alternative formulas from the WIC formulary available through local vendors, and use Medicaid as primary payer for specialized formulas when patients have both WIC and Medicaid coverage.

By October 10, 2025: Providers must prescribe alternative formulas listed on the WIC formulary that are available through local vendors or pharmacies instead of specialized WIC formulas. For patients with both WIC and Medicaid, bill Medicaid as primary payer for qualified specialized formulas per KMAP bulletin 25047. Update EMR templates to reference WIC formulary options.
