Summary
Kansas Medicaid expanded coverage of Flucelvax Trivalent cell-based flu vaccine (CPT 90661) from members age 19+ to now include children as young as 6 months old, effective retroactively to September 1, 2024. Children 6 months through 18 years will be covered under the Vaccine-For-Children (VFC) program.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must update systems to allow CPT 90661 (Flucelvax Trivalent) for Kansas Medicaid members age 6 months and older. Update age verification processes to include pediatric patients. Submit claims for VFC reimbursement for members 6 months through 18 years, and regular Medicaid reimbursement for members 19 and older. Review any denied claims from September 1, 2024 forward for potential reprocessing.
