Summary
Kansas Medicaid (KMAP) will continue conducting full audits of Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) providers in 2026, including expanded service-related qualifications checks. A new requirement mandates all HCBS employees must be searched on the National Sex Offender Registry using the search by name function only.
Action Required
For HCBS providers: Immediately implement National Sex Offender Registry searches for all employees using name-only search function at the Dru Sjodin website. Maintain current employee lists including active, temporary, variable, paid, unpaid staff, volunteers, and non-Kansas residents. Respond promptly to Averifi audit emails with requested employee documentation including training, education, licenses, and certifications. Ensure all background checks are current (under 2 years old) and complete before audit initiation to avoid reaudit requirements.
