Summary
Starting March 1, 2026, Kansas Medicaid providers must submit written member consent with all appeals for denied or reduced services, DME, or medications. Appeals submitted without written consent will not be processed by Healthy Blue, Sunflower, and UnitedHealthcare.

Before March 1, 2026: Billing team must update appeal procedures to require written member consent for all denied or reduced services, DME, and medication appeals submitted to Healthy Blue, Sunflower, and UnitedHealthcare. Create standardized consent forms and train staff on the 63-day appeal filing period requirement. Appeals without written consent will not be processed.
