Kansas updated their Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) background check requirements for healthcare providers. A new Criminal Record Check system went live November 19, 2025, and providers must now conduct National Sex Offender Registry checks every 2 years starting April 1, 2025.

By April 1, 2025: HCBS providers in Kansas must implement National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW) checks for all new employees before employment and every 2 years thereafter. HR staff must ensure searches include all 50 states, DC, US Territories, and Indian Country. Use the new Criminal Record Check system for streamlined background check processing. Update employee screening procedures and maintain compliance documentation.
