Summary
Effective July 1, 2026, Kansas Medicaid is implementing new billing requirements for pregnancy services that span calendar years 2026-2027. Global pregnancy codes will be deleted by the AMA, requiring providers to unbundle and bill pregnancy services by component (antepartum, delivery, postpartum) when services cross calendar years.
Action Required
By July 1, 2026: Update billing system to prevent global pregnancy code billing for services spanning 2026-2027. Configure system to require component billing using antepartum codes (59426 for 7+ visits, 59425 for 4-6 visits, E&M codes for 1-3 visits) and delivery-only codes (59409, 59514, 59612, 59620) when pregnancy care crosses calendar years. Train billing team on new unbundling requirements to ensure proper reimbursement.
