Summary
Alaska Medicaid now requires specific HCPCS codes in addition to revenue codes for home health services claims starting January 1, 2023, as part of Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) implementation. Both service authorization requests and claims must include the appropriate HCPCS code to be considered for approval.
Action Required
By January 1, 2023: Billing team must update Alaska Medicaid home health claims to include both revenue codes AND corresponding HCPCS codes (S9131 for PT, S9129 for OT, S9128 for speech therapy, T1030/T1031 for skilled nursing, T1021/S9122 for home health aide). Update billing software and encounter forms to require HCPCS codes for all home health service authorizations and claims. Claims without HCPCS codes will not be considered for approval.
