Alaska Medicaid is updating its Preferred Drug List effective January 1, 2024, and adding 25 new medications to the prior authorization requirement list while removing 2 medications from prior auth requirements. Several existing medications are also having their clinical criteria updated.

Before January 1, 2024: Billing team must update prior authorization tracking system to include 25 new medications requiring prior auth (Talvey, Airsupra, Balfaxar, Sohonos, Jesduvroq, Hyrimoz, Pombiliti, Kepivance, Bimzelx, Velsipity, Opvee, Eylea HD, Lodoco, Latindra, Aphexda, Entyvio, Opfolda, Glipizide 2.5mg, Likmez, Elrexfio, Veopoz, Nitrofurantoin 50mg/5ml suspension, Adalimumab-adbm, Trientine, Motpoly XR, Abrilada, Baclofen 10mg/5ml) and remove prior auth requirements for Amitiza and Linzess. Update medication prior authorization forms from the Alaska Medicaid website. Notify providers that prescribing opioids over 150MME will require prior authorization and PDMP checks are mandatory.
