Summary
Alaska Medicaid is updating their Preferred Drug List effective November 1, 2024, and adding prior authorization requirements for numerous new medications including Beqvez, Bimzelx, Rystiggo, and dozens of other drugs. The policy also reinforces existing opioid prescribing requirements including PDMP checks and prior auth for prescriptions exceeding 150 MME.

By November 1, 2024: Billing team must update prior authorization requirements for over 50 new medications including Beqvez, Bimzelx, Rystiggo, Veozah, Winrevair, Spevigo, and others listed in the policy. Update pharmacy billing systems to require prior auth for these drugs. Providers must continue checking PDMP before prescribing opioids and obtain prior authorization for prescriptions exceeding 150 MME.
