Summary
Alaska Medicaid updated their Preferred Drug List and added new prior authorization requirements for 24 medications including Adalimumab, Metformin 750mg, Taltz, and others. The updated PDL becomes effective June 1, 2025, and all listed medications will require prior authorization and/or step therapy.
Action Required
Before June 1, 2025: Billing team must update prior authorization workflows for 24 new medications including Adalimumab, Metformin 750mg, Metronidazole 125mg, Niktimvo, Taltz, Xromi, and others listed in the policy. Download new prior authorization forms from https://health.alaska.gov/en/education/prior-authorization-medication/. Providers must obtain prior authorization before prescribing these medications to Alaska Medicaid patients or claims will be denied.
