Summary
Alaska Medicaid is implementing new service authorization requirements for behavioral health and substance use disorder residential services starting July 1, 2025, with fiscal year limits resuming and SA requests now processed by HMS Gainwell instead of previous systems.
Action Required
By July 1, 2025: Providers offering behavioral health and substance use disorder residential services must begin submitting service authorization requests to HMS Gainwell using new approved forms (available shortly). Attend mandatory training sessions scheduled for June 23 (9-10 am), June 25 (8:30-9:30 am), or July 1 (1-2 pm) by emailing DL-AK-Learn@gainwelltechnologies.com. Note: PRTF and Level II-IV Residential Home Services should continue submitting to Comagine Health, not HMS Gainwell.
