Summary
New Mexico Medicaid has implemented new billing and reimbursement guidance for Multisystemic Therapy (MST) and MST-Problem Sexual Behavior (MST-PSB) services for youth ages 10-18. Providers must obtain specific licensure from MST Services, LLC and joint approval letters from state departments to bill for these evidence-based behavioral health services.
Action Required
Immediately: Behavioral health providers offering MST services must obtain MST Services, LLC licensure and joint approval letters from New Mexico Human Services Department and Children Youth and Families Department. Complete Medicaid provider enrollment for specialty type 131. Ensure all MST staff complete required 5-day introductory training and quarterly trainings. Existing providers with specialty type 131 must complete joint approval process before next Turn Around Document (TAD). Update billing systems to only bill for direct face-to-face time with patients, families, or approved collateral contacts.
