Summary
Utah Medicaid has eliminated the Non-Traditional Medicaid benefit plan effective January 1, 2024, with all previously Non-Traditional members now receiving full Traditional Medicaid benefits including additional therapy visits, medical equipment, and transportation services. Additionally, copayment requirements have been restored to pre-April 2023 policies, affecting physician visits, outpatient services, and pharmacy services.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must update patient eligibility verification to recognize that all Utah Medicaid members now have Traditional benefit coverage including expanded therapy visits, medical supplies, and transportation. Update billing system to apply copayments for physician visits, outpatient hospital services, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, pharmacy services, and non-emergency ED visits. Verify patient copayment obligations at time of service as requirements have been restored to pre-April 2023 policies.
