Summary
Effective September 1, 2002, ambulance providers must discontinue using procedure codes A0380 and A0390 for mileage claims and switch to using A0425 for all ambulance mileage billing. For round trips, code A0425 must be entered twice on the claim form with appropriate origin and destination codes clearly indicated.
Action Required
By September 1, 2002: Ambulance billing teams must update billing systems to stop using codes A0380 and A0390 for mileage claims and begin using code A0425 for all ambulance mileage. Update claim forms to enter A0425 twice for round trips with clear origin and destination codes. Continue using A0380 and A0390 only for services rendered through August 31, 2002. Claims using old codes after September 1 will not be processed correctly.
